In 1989 while preparing to graduate from St John University in Collegeville with a degree in psychology I was forced to take an additional course in order to receive full financial aid. This angered me greatly so I decided to take the easiest class I could find—Ceramics 101. Under the guidance of Sister Denis Frandrup I fell in love with clay and spent the better part of that year in the studio learning all I could. This also was the beginning of a life view which has only grown stronger; the conscious acknowledgement that looking for silver linings not only makes our days more fulfilling it often allows us to surpass our wildest expectations. |
